Imota Council Denies Reports of School Bandit Attack

The chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area, Benson Sundai Ayodel, addressed concerns over a viral video claiming that two schoolgirls were killed during a bandit attack at a primary school in Imota. He described these reports as false and misleading, stating that there were no verified incidents of such an attack within the council area.

The claims gained traction following a live phone segment on Gbedu 100.1 FM, which aired unverified information about the alleged attack. Ayodel emphasized the importance of relying on official sources for security information and urged residents to remain calm and vigilant.

Gbedu 100.1 FM later issued an apology for broadcasting the unverified claims and acknowledged the distress it caused among parents and students. The station's management, including Dayo Ajiteru, admitted to lapses in their verification process and committed to upholding journalistic standards in the future.
