Reps Member Peter Akpank Faces N19M Travel Debt Petition

Peter Akpank, a member of the House of Representatives representing the Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal Constituency in Cross River State, is facing a petition over an alleged debt of N19.15 million owed to Havilah Global Travel. The petition claims that Akpank failed to settle outstanding payments for airline tickets purchased through the agency.

The tickets, procured on January 16, 2026, included three business class tickets to Rome for a total cost of N24.48 million. Akpank reportedly made a partial payment of N14 million, leaving a balance of N19.15 million, which includes additional costs for reissuance of tickets.

The solicitor, Ohanel Udokanmma, stated that efforts to recover the debt have failed, prompting the petition. Akpank denies the claims, asserting that he does not owe the amount stated and emphasizing that his obligations are commercial debts, not criminal offenses.

He maintains a long-standing business relationship with the travel agency.
