House Passes Bill for State Security Research Bureau

On Thursday, the House of Representatives passed a bill through Third Reading to establish the State Security Service Research and Development Bureau. This bureau will conduct and coordinate research and development for the Department of State Services (DSS).

Hon. Ahmed Satome, Chairman of the House Committee on National Security and Intelligence, explained that the initiative aims to address developmental gaps in security, aligning with global practices.

The proposed Bureau will implement an intelligence policy, oversee research activities, and collaborate with public and private institutions. Its objectives include conducting robust research, providing scientific information, and promoting technological advancements in intelligence.

The Bureau will also engage in training and coordinate with universities and international institutions to enhance intelligence capabilities. The bill emphasizes the importance of contemporary knowledge in strengthening the DSS's operations.
