Nigerian House of Representatives Forms Panel to Investigate Gas Supply to Power Plants

The Nigerian House of Representatives has established a seven-member panel to probe the gas supply to power plants in Nigeria, particularly focusing on Seplat Energy Company's alleged inadequate gas supply to power generation companies. The ad hoc committee, led by Al Mustapha Aliyu, aims to investigate the continuous supply of gas to the Sapel power plant in Delta State despite its inactivity in generating electricity.

Seplat Energy Company's management director refuted the allegations, emphasizing the company's commitment to supporting Nigeria's power sector reform agenda. The panel, chaired by Afam Victor Ogen and including members like Kafilat Ogbara and Harrison Nwadik, plans to conduct a comprehensive forensic audit to determine the actual utilization of gas supplied to power plants nationwide and uncover any irregular processes.
