Nigerian Resident Doctors Commence Nationwide Strike Over Unmet Demands

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has commenced a nationwide strike due to unmet demands from the federal government. President of NARD, Tope Osundara, stated that the strike was initiated after the government failed to address their concerns within the given deadline.

The association had given the government an ultimatum to disburse the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) and upgrade membership certificates, which were not met. Despite a 24-hour extension, the minimum demands were not fulfilled, leading to the strike.

The decision was made following a virtual meeting of the National Executive Council. The strike is aimed at pressing the government to meet the doctors' demands promptly.
