FCT Resident Doctors Suspend Strike After Government Intervention

The Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have suspended their indefinite strike following interventions by the Senate Committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters, as well as an appeal from FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. The doctors had embarked on a warning strike to protest poor working conditions, unpaid salary arrears, deductions, and lack of essential medical equipment in FCT hospitals.

President Dr. George Ebong confirmed the suspension, stating that the health sector in the territory has long suffered from underfunding, staff shortages, and inadequate infrastructure.

The association will monitor the government's response closely and is prepared to resume industrial action if their demands remain unmet.
