Nigerian Resident Doctors Suspend Strike After Two Days, Resume Work Nationwide

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has suspended their nationwide warning strike after two days, bringing temporary relief to the overstretched public health sector. The strike, which began on Friday, was suspended on Saturday night, with members directed to resume work on Sunday.

NARD President Tope Osundara confirmed the decision, stating that the government had promised to address their demands. The strike had caused disruptions in public hospitals nationwide, with consultants and other health workers managing increased workloads.

NARD had been pressing for various demands, including the immediate payment of the 2025 Medical Residency Training Fund and the clearance of longstanding salary backlogs.
