Residents flee as bandits attack Niger, Kwara

Bandits have attacked communities in Niger and Kwara states, causing residents to flee for safety. The bandits operated in a community at 11:05 pm, rustling cattle and kidnapping children.

One farmer was shot in Dusai village, prompting residents from Ragada and Mariga LGAs to seek refuge. Ibrahim Ayuba Ragada trekked 20 km with his pregnant wife to escape the attack, highlighting the dire situation.

Residents shared harrowing experiences of fleeing, crossing rivers, and facing food shortages. The Commissioner of Homeland Security, Brigadier General Bello Abdullahi Mohammed (rtd), confirmed the attacks, with security operatives working to control the situation.

This incident follows a similar attack in Kwara State, with residents appealing for government intervention to protect lives and livelihoods. The situation remains tense, with many villages deserted and residents living in fear of further attacks.
