Osun Experts Urge Youths to Resist Political Chaos

Experts have advised youths in Osun State to resist attempts by politicians to incite chaos amidst increasing political activity. This guidance was provided during a three-day training workshop on conflict resolution and non-violent community advocacy held in Osogbo, the state capital.

The workshop, organized by the Peace Education Advocacy Climate Action Development, featured a statement signed by Farida Igbayilola. Wasiu Adebiyi, a facilitator, emphasized the need for youths from the Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin communities to avoid violence, especially given recent clashes over boundary disputes that resulted in loss of lives and property damage.

He warned that the current political climate is often associated with violence and urged the youth to become change agents for peace. Adebiyi also noted that the government has been attempting to resolve these community crises for several years, but youth involvement in the reconciliation process has been limited.

The workshop aimed to empower youths to actively participate in peaceful coexistence initiatives.
