Rivers Court Halts Impeachment Proceedings Amid Political Tensions

The Rivers State High Court in Oyigbo has temporarily halted impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Prof. Ngozi Odu led by the State House of Assembly.

The court order came amidst rising political tensions as some lawmakers opted to impeach the officials while others sought an amicable settlement. Governor's special adviser, Darlington Orji, dismissed the impeachment move, claiming it lacked merit.

The court restrained the Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi, from receiving any impeachment documents pending further consideration.
