Rivers Lawmakers Withdraw Appeals Against Fubara, Odu

On February 18, 2026, members of the Rivers State House of Assembly withdrew appeal suits against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Prof. Ngozi Odu.

This decision followed a presidential intervention and a resolution signed on February 8, 2026, which emphasized the need for adherence to constitutional provisions. Dr.

Enemi George, the chairman of the House Committee on Information, disclosed that the resolution was part of an agreement reached during a meeting with the president. The lawmakers pledged to refrain from actions that might infringe upon the constitution and to take corrective measures regarding previous breaches.

The withdrawal of the two court appeals, numbered CA/PH/3/2026 and CA/PH/32/2026, was made in good faith to reinforce the rule of law and foster stability in Rivers State. Additionally, the House resolved to halt impeachment proceedings that had been initiated against Governor Fubara and Deputy Odu, thanking the people of Rivers State for their support.
