Nigerian Groups Urge Tinubu to Intervene in Rivers State Political Crisis

A joint press briefing in Abuja by the Nigerian CNPP and a coalition of 70 civil society organizations called on Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene in the political crisis in Rivers State. The groups expressed concerns over Governor Wike and Siminalayi Fubara's power struggle, describing it as a threat to democracy.

They accused Fubara of attempting to seize power through manipulation, warning of the dangers of destabilizing the nation's fragile democracy. Despite defections and impeachment threats against Fubara, the groups emphasized that he had not committed any impeachable offenses.

The Progress Congress (APC) in Rivers State announced the strengthening of the party following Fubara's defection, with a focus on upcoming elections. The call for Tinubu's intervention aims to prevent further escalation of the crisis and reinforce constitutional order.
