Tinubu Intervenes in Rivers State Crisis, Urges Wike to Halt Impeachment

In a bid to quell the political crisis in Rivers State, former Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu has reportedly intervened by sending a blunt message to Governor Wike to halt the impeachment process against Siminalayi Fubara, Wike's predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Tinubu emphasized the need for political stability and urged Wike to recognize Fubara's leadership role in the state.

Tinubu's intervention follows previous tensions between Fubara and Wike, including a declaration of a six-month emergency rule in the state in March 2025. Tinubu's directive to suspend the impeachment move against Fubara aims to prevent further political hostilities and ensure peace in Rivers State.

Additionally, Tinubu instructed the APC leadership to acknowledge candidates loyal to Wike for two vacant assembly seats, signaling a potential peace deal between the parties.
