River State Governor Clarifies Christmas Bonus to Civil Servants Amid Mixed Reactions

River State's Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communication, Dr. Honour Sirawoo, clarified Governor Siminalayi Fubara's decision to provide a N100,000 Christmas bonus to civil servants as a token of appreciation for their dedicated service.

The gesture was praised by the Nigeria Labour Congress, emphasizing the harmonious relationship between the government and workers. However, some members of the State House of Assembly, including Alabo Georg, rejected the unsolicited bonus and returned the funds to the government.
