Rivers State Approves Recruitment of 5,000 Civil Servants to Enhance Public Service Delivery

The Rivers State Executive Council, led by President Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has sanctioned the recruitment of 5,000 indigenous civil servants during its second meeting in 2026. The decision aims to bolster administrative efficiency and public service delivery, particularly in the education sector.

The recruitment drive will address the manpower needs, with a total intake target of 9,500 individuals. Dr.

Honor Sirawoo, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communication, highlighted that the recruitment will prioritize the education sector, with 300 individuals to serve at the basic primary level and 2,000 at the post-primary level. Dr.

Chisom Kenneth Gbali described the recruitment as a significant boost for residents of the state.
