Wike Promises Strong Support for Tinubu in 2027 Election

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, announced that Rivers State and the FCT will vote massively for President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 election. Speaking at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja, Wike asserted his position as the sole leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, stating, “I’m the leader of the PDP, so I speak on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party.” He revealed that he had just learned of his appointment to coordinate Tinubu’s campaign in the FCT and Rivers.

Wike warned campaign coordinators that winning at the national level would not excuse failure to deliver their states. He praised Tinubu for addressing issues that previous administrations had avoided, particularly regarding state police as a solution to insecurity.

Wike also noted that being in opposition does not mean denying good governance, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging effective leadership.
