Navy Discovers Illegal Fuel Storage in Rivers State

The Nigerian Navy, through Operation DELTA SENTINEL, discovered a concealed fuel storage facility in the Okarki area of Rivers State, recovering about 87,000 litres of suspected illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO). This operation was executed by personnel from the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) SOROH, following credible intelligence.

Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Director of Naval Information, stated that the operation revealed a hidden facility used for the illegal stockpiling of petroleum products. He emphasized that the recovered products and associated items were managed according to established operational procedures.

Captain Folorunsho also noted that this discovery underscores the persistent efforts of criminal networks to create concealed storage and distribution points in the Niger Delta to sustain the illicit petroleum trade. He reaffirmed the Navy's commitment to continuing intelligence-driven operations under Operation DELTA SENTINEL to protect Nigeria's maritime environment and oil and gas infrastructure.
