Rivers State Emergency Rule Expected to End on September 18

The state of emergency in Rivers State, declared by President Bola Tinubu, is set to expire on September 18, as confirmed by Minister Nyesom Wike. The State Assembly is expected to resume duties after the expiration.

The emergency rule was imposed to prevent political crises following the suspension of Governor Sim Fubara and the deputy. Wike expressed optimism about the peaceful conduct of the ongoing local government elections in Rivers State.

He emphasized that once the state of emergency is lifted, governance at the grassroots level can resume smoothly, allowing for the participation of local government representatives.
