Tinubu Lifts Emergency Rule in Rivers State, Peace Restored

President Bola Tinubu officially lifted the emergency rule in Rivers State on September 17, 2025, restoring peace in the region. Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Ngozi Odu, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly were directed to resume activities the following day.

This decision came after former APC governorship candidate Tonye Cole announced that power had returned to his office. Cole expressed confidence in Fubara's ability to make decisions independently once the suspension was lifted.

The lifting of the emergency rule signifies a step towards normalcy and stability in Rivers State.
