Wike Triumphs as Fubara Boycotts Rivers LG Polls

Former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has regained control of the state's political structure after his successor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his loyalists boycotted the recent local government polls. The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) conducted elections in 23 Local Government Areas, following the Supreme Court's nullification of Fubara's controversial 2024 election.

The court ruling invalidated the election and restored the Federal High Court's decision to update the voter register before conducting polls. Wike's victory marks a significant political shift in the state's leadership dynamics amid ongoing tensions and power struggles.
