Wike Backs George-Kelly and Chinda for Rivers Governorship

Nyesom Wike, a prominent political figure, is backing George-Kelly and Chinda as gubernatorial aspirants for the Rivers State governorship election in 2027. George-Kelly is expected to run on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has previously contested in the People's Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in 2022, finishing second to Siminalayi Fubara.

Following this, he was appointed as the Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency by President Bola Tinubu. Sources within the Rainbow Coalition indicate that George-Kelly has purchased nomination forms from both the APC and PDP, expressing interest in the governorship race.

His entry into the race has reportedly calmed tensions among stakeholders in Rivers State. The coalition aims to present loyal candidates to appeal to stakeholders across the state, including aligning with Fubara's administration.
