Salis Engages Atiku, Plans Talks with Tinubu and Others

Chief Owolabi Salis, recognized as West Africa’s first astronaut, recently visited Nigeria and met with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as part of a strategic dialogue aimed at national development. Salis, a New York-based lawyer and chartered accountant, expressed the urgency of aligning Nigeria on a better democratic path.

He plans to meet with President Bola Tinubu, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and other notable leaders including Gen Yakubu Gowon, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, and Gen.

Abdulsalami Abubakar. While commending the reforms of the Tinubu administration, Salis pointed out that Nigeria continues to drift after over two decades of democracy, attributing this to desperate politicians and a weak democratic culture.

He highlighted the widening gap between the rich and the poor, stating that many Nigerians suffer from poverty and lack access to essential medical care. Salis mentioned his personal financial contributions to assist those in need and expressed his belief in the necessity of a better electoral process to ensure proper elections.
