Sanwo-Olu Endorses Hamzat for Lagos Governorship 2027

On Monday, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu officially endorsed his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, as his preferred successor for the upcoming 2027 governorship election. This announcement was made during a closed-door meeting at the Lagos House in Marina, attended by members of the governor's advisory council, including former Minister of State for Defence Musiliu Obanikoro and Ganiyu Solomon.

Sanwo-Olu described the endorsement as a unanimous decision reached among stakeholders present, emphasizing Hamzat's preparedness and capability to lead the state. He noted Hamzat's experience and the strong working relationship they have built over the past seven years, stating that Hamzat possesses the integrity, loyalty, and commitment necessary for the role.

Sanwo-Olu acknowledged President Bola Tinubu's instrumental role in discovering Hamzat's potential and expressed confidence in Hamzat's readiness for leadership, asserting that he deserves the opportunity to govern Lagos State.
