Sanwo-Olu Praises Tinubu for Lagos Green Line Approval

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the Federal Executive Council's approval of Phase 1A of the Lagos Green Line rail project. Announced on Friday, Sanwo-Olu described this approval as a major milestone in the transport development of Lagos State.

The green line project will cover 68 kilometers, connecting Marina to the Lekki Free Trade Zone, with approximately 17 stations located in areas including Victoria Island, Ajah, and the Lekki corridor. The governor noted that the rail system is expected to serve 500,000 passengers daily, with the capacity to increase to over a million.

The line will facilitate the movement of 35,000 passengers per hour, significantly reducing travel time and alleviating pressure on the road network. Sanwo-Olu emphasized the broader impact of the project on improving mobility, supporting economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life for Lagos residents.

He acknowledged the continued support of the federal government in delivering a system that meets the needs of the people.
