Saraki Calls for PDP Unity Ahead of 2027 Elections

Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, former Senate President, called for unity within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) after a Supreme Court verdict on March 29, 2026.

In a statement from Yusuph Olaniyonu, head of Saraki's media office, he advised party leadership to commence processes for unification and preparation for the 2027 elections. Saraki highlighted the need for reconciliation to avoid prolonged litigation and emphasized the importance of rebuilding the party as a credible platform for both members and non-members.

He noted that the recent Supreme Court verdict justified the party's consistent position amidst current disagreements. Saraki's remarks came during a national convention held in Ibadan, where he reiterated the necessity for dialogue and collaboration across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

He urged party members to focus on providing good governance rather than dwelling on past losses in court, aiming for a successful return to the ballot in 2027.
