Houthis Report 58 Saudi Airstrikes in 24 Hours

The Houthis claimed that Saudi Arabia conducted 58 airstrikes within 24 hours, intensifying the conflict that reignited in July 2023. This resurgence followed the Houthis' declaration of a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia and their targeting of ships in the Red Sea.

The group captured Yemen's Red Sea coast, solidifying control over the Bab al-Mandab Strait, crucial for Saudi oil exports. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree reported heavy missile and drone attacks against Saudi Arabia, resulting in 73 injuries.

The Houthis also claimed responsibility for attacks on the Sharurah military base in southern Saudi Arabia. The recent fighting has displaced approximately 86,000 people, with over 2,000 fleeing to Djibouti.

The conflict, which began in 2014, has resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths and a severe humanitarian crisis. Saudi Arabia has issued alerts regarding potential Houthi attacks in southern regions but has not confirmed the strikes against Houthi positions.
