Speaker Tajudeen Advocates for Jeddah-Abuja Flights in 2026

Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming direct Jeddah-Abuja flights set to commence on December 1, 2026. This announcement was made during a dinner celebrating Saudi Arabia’s 96th National Day in Abuja.

Tajudeen proposed establishing an annual parliamentary dialogue with the Saudi Shura Council to strengthen bilateral relations, emphasizing the historical ties between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia in areas such as faith, commerce, and culture. He highlighted the importance of Nigeria's large Muslim population in fostering this relationship.

The proposed flight schedule includes three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Tajudeen called for the expansion of passenger services to Lagos, competitive fares, and enhanced cargo links.

He also requested Saudi Arabia to reciprocate Nigeria’s visa-on-arrival policy for specific Nigerian travelers and advocated for increased scholarships in various fields for Nigerian students. Additionally, he commended the efficient execution of the 2026 Hajj, noting Nigeria's completion of 98 outbound flights within 18 days.
