SDP expels El-Rufai, bans him for 30 years over false membership claims

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has expelled former Kaduna Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and banned him from the party for 30 years due to false membership claims. The National Working Committee of the SDP accused El-Rufai of manipulating internal processes and falsely claiming membership.

According to the SDP, El-Rufai never registered at the ward level as required by the party's constitution but falsely declared on social media that he had joined. The party criticized El-Rufai for alleged backdoor political activities that caused discord within the organization.

The SDP also accused El-Rufai of attempting to align with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), contrary to the party's principles. The SDP emphasized that El-Rufai is prohibited from using the party's name or engaging in party activities for the next three decades.

The party urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize their decision and emphasized the importance of truthful representation within their ranks.
