Cyriel Dessers Joins UEFA Conference League Scoring Elite

Cyriel Dessers has achieved a significant milestone by equalling Mikael Ishak’s record of 13 goals, becoming the joint-top scorer in UEFA Conference League (UECL) history. This accomplishment occurred during matchday two of the league phase, where Dessers played a crucial role in Panathinaikos' 5-1 victory over Kairat Almaty.

He opened the scoring in the 24th minute from the penalty spot, which he earned himself, and then scored again in the 47th minute with a left-footed finish. His attempt for a hat-trick was cut short when he was substituted in the 56th minute.

This brace increased his total to 13 goals in the UEFA Conference League league phase and group stage, matching Ishak's record, excluding qualifying rounds. Dessers has been in excellent form this season, netting 13 goals across all competitions, including six in the Conference League and its qualifying rounds.

Notably, ten of his UEFA Conference League goals were scored during his tenure at Feyenoord Rotterdam in the 2021–22 season, where he won the competition’s Golden Boot and was named in the Team of the Season.
