SEDC Calls for Collective Investment Among South-East Entrepreneurs

The South-East Development Commission (SEDC) has called on entrepreneurs in South-East Nigeria to pool their resources for large-scale investments aimed at driving industrial growth and creating sustainable economic opportunities. Hon. Toby Okechukwu, the Executive Director of Projects at SEDC, made this appeal while representing the Commission at the 10th anniversary of De Pinnacle International Social Club in Abuja.
He highlighted the importance of collective investment, public-private partnerships, and sound corporate governance in transforming the region's economic landscape. Okechukwu noted that while the South-East community exhibits strong social cohesion in cultural activities, this unity has not effectively translated into economic ventures.
He urged entrepreneurs to establish businesses with proper corporate structures and succession plans, warning against reliance solely on founders. Okechukwu also encouraged a shift from trading to manufacturing, citing the Dangote Refinery as a successful model for institutionalized business growth.
