Hull City Secures Historic EPL Win Over Manchester United

On their return to the English Premier League after nine years, Hull City achieved a historic victory by defeating Manchester United 2-0 at the MKM Stadium, marking their first-ever EPL win over the Red Devils. Semi Ajayi played a crucial role, scoring the opening goal by bundling home a loose ball from a corner-kick delivery, which was his first EPL goal in five years and made him the first Nigerian to score in the league since Alex Iwobi in March.

Nobel Mendy extended Hull's lead in the 38th minute with a header from a free-kick delivery. Despite Manchester United introducing Marcus Rashford in the second half and creating chances through Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire, they could not find the net.

This defeat marked Manchester United's first loss to a newly promoted side in 13 matches and their first opening-day defeat since 2021. Hull City ended a 52-year winless streak against Manchester United, with their last victory over the club dating back to 1974.
