Senate Committee and NCDC Set Development Priorities

The Senate Committee and the management of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) convened to establish development priorities for the North Central region. The meeting, chaired by Senator Titu Zam, resulted in an agreement on the monthly allocation of N2.9 billion to ensure transparency and visibility in delivering on the NCDC's mandate.

The committee proposed a total budget of N140 billion, which is to be allocated over 12 months. The committee expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for enabling the commission's operations.

They plan to conduct an oversight visit to the NCDC headquarters and subsequently tour North Central states to inspect ongoing programs and projects. The committee advised the NCDC to focus on agriculture, given the region's arable land and favorable rainfall, and to support security agencies and state governments in tackling insecurity, prioritizing rural development, including roads and bridges.
