Senate Confirms Enikanolaiye and Tegbe as Ministers

On Wednesday, the Nigerian Senate confirmed Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power. This decision followed a screening process where lawmakers questioned the nominees regarding their qualifications and proposed policies.

President Bola Tinubu had earlier forwarded their names to the Senate for confirmation in line with constitutional requirements. Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the presidential correspondence that referred the nominations for urgent consideration.

Enikanolaiye, a seasoned diplomat, has held several international positions and previously occupied key roles within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Tegbe's appointment comes at a critical time as Nigeria's power sector continues to struggle with grid instability and persistent infrastructure deficits.

The Senate's approval allows both ministers to assume their responsibilities immediately as part of the broader cabinet adjustments in the Tinubu administration.
