Senate Seeks Global Support to Revitalize Agriculture

The Nigerian Senate, through its Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Research Institutes, is intensifying efforts to revive the country's agricultural institutions by seeking support from international partners such as China, India, and the European Union. Senator Sharafadeen Alli disclosed this initiative in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday.

The committee plans to engage in diplomatic missions to countries including Malaysia, Brazil, Germany, and the United Kingdom as part of a broader strategy to leverage international expertise to improve agricultural productivity and strengthen institutional capacity. The first National Legislative Summit and Expo on Agricultural Colleges and Research Institutes is scheduled for May 11-13 at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The summit aims to mobilize global support and showcase innovations capable of transforming Nigeria's agricultural sector. The committee emphasizes the importance of strategic partnerships and modern farming techniques to address global agricultural challenges and improve rural livelihoods.
