Senate Suspends Plenary to Honor Late Rep Muhammad Hassan

The Nigerian Senate suspended its plenary sessions on Tuesday to honor the late House of Representatives member, Muhammad Danjuma Hassan, who passed away on April 4, 2026. The motion for suspension was sponsored by Senate Leader Bamidel Michael Opeyemi, representing Ekiti Central.

The Senate expressed profound shock at Hassan's death, noting that he served as a member of the House of Representatives for the Dawakin Kudu/Wara constituency in Kano State. Hassan was recognized for his distinct role as Director of Drafting and Director of Legal Services at the National Assembly, providing invaluable legal and legislative services.

The Senate acknowledged his dedication as a public servant and his significant contributions to legislative development and democratic governance in Nigeria. His passing was described as a great loss, creating a profound vacuum in the National Assembly.
