Kano Lawmaker Muhammad Danjuma Hassan Dies at 66

Muhammad Danjuma Hassan, a prominent federal lawmaker representing Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency in Kano State, died on Friday at the age of 66 after a prolonged illness. His passing has created a significant void in the 10th National Assembly, as expressed by Akin Rotimi, the spokesperson for the House of Representatives.

Rotimi highlighted Hassan's dedication to developing Nigeria's legal framework and noted that his contributions were instrumental in advancing legislative processes. Hassan was elected during the 2023 general elections as a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and held influential positions, including Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary.

He was recognized as a master draftsman and a key figure in the legislative assembly. Tajudeen Abba, the Speaker of the House, extended condolences to Hassan's family and the people of Kano State.

Funeral arrangements are set for Saturday, in accordance with Islamic traditions.
