Nigerian Senate to Pass N48.47 Trillion 2026 Budget on March 17

The Nigerian Senate is set to pass the N48.47 trillion budget for 2026 on March 17. The budget was unveiled with a timeline agreed upon during a special session on Friday.

The Senate Committee on Appropriations, chaired by Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has been actively involved in scrutinizing the budget estimates. Renowned economist Professor Wasiu Adeoye presented the budget during a public hearing.

The Senate has scheduled February 16-23 for the submission of reports by various standing committees on budget defense. Senator Adeola disclosed that the leadership of the Senate sought to pass the budget on March 12 but allowed an additional week for thorough scrutiny.

The budget details will be printed and distributed to committee members for further review and adoption.
