Nigerian Senate to Pass N58.4 Trillion 2026 Budget on March 17 After Intensive Deliberations

The Nigerian Senate is set to pass a N58.4 trillion budget for 2026 on March 17 following a series of budget hearings and deliberations. A special session of the Senate Appropriations Committee was held in Abuja from February 2 to February 13 to consider the budget estimates.

Solomon Adeola, the committee chairman, led the discussions, with input from experts like Wasiu Adeoy from the University of Lagos. The budget hearings focused on strengthening microeconomic stability, accelerating infrastructure delivery, improving security, and ensuring effective implementation of the 2026 budget.

Various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) engaged in discussions during the hearings. The Senate aims to ensure meticulous scrutiny and consideration of the budget estimates before passing the budget on March 17.
