SERAP Urges Tinubu to Stop Bogus Charges Against Sowore

The Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to direct the Inspector General of Police to drop what they describe as "bogus charges" against journalist Omoyele Sowore. Sowore faces charges of terrorism financing, money laundering, and fraud, which SERAP deems as retaliation for his peaceful expression of freedom.

The group emphasized that the Nigerian authorities must stop using the criminal justice system to intimidate journalists and suppress independent press. SERAP highlighted that Sowore's prosecution violates both the Nigerian Constitution and international human rights treaties.

The call to drop the charges aims to prevent further arbitrary prosecution and protect freedom of expression.
