SERAP Urges Tinubu to Probe Alleged ₦128 Billion Diversion in Power Ministry and NBET

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged Bola Tinubu to launch a transparent investigation into the alleged diversion of ₦128 billion in the Federal Ministry of Power and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET). SERAP's Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, referenced the 2022 annual report of the Auditor General of the Federation, highlighting irregularities such as unaccounted funds for dam projects, payments to contractors without evidence of project execution, and misuse of funds for foreign travel and other purposes.

The group emphasized the need to recover the missing funds to support the 2026 national budget and address Nigeria's debt crisis. SERAP warned of legal action if accountability measures are not taken promptly.
