Shaibu Urges Political Will for Nigeria's Sports Development

Comrade Philip Shaibu, Director-General of the National Institute of Sports, highlighted the crucial role of political will in fostering authentic sports development in Nigeria. Speaking at the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria's 60th Diamond Anniversary lecture in Abuja, Shaibu commended SWAN's commitment to promoting sports excellence.

He stressed the importance of visionary leadership, courage, and tough reforms in transforming the sports sector, citing examples from Edo State's initiatives. Shaibu lamented the neglect of sports infrastructure in Nigeria, attributing it to a lack of political will to facilitate institutional growth.
