NIS Inspects Facilities for CAF Coaching Programmes

On Tuesday, Philip Shaibu, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), conducted an inspection of the Institute's facilities in Abuja alongside Austin Eguavoen, the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and officials from the Confederation of African Football (CAF). This inspection aimed to evaluate the readiness of the NIS facilities for the upcoming CAF coaching licence programmes.

Shaibu emphasized the Institute's commitment to providing modern facilities that meet national and continental standards for coaching education. He noted that the quality of facilities directly impacts the training coaches receive, which is crucial for sports development in Nigeria.

This inspection follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the NIS and the NFF, designed to create a structured pathway for Nigerian coaches to obtain CAF certification domestically. The collaboration aims to alleviate challenges faced by coaches in accessing recognized training and certification, thereby strengthening the capacity for professional development in sports education.
