Tinubu's Bold Shea Export Policy to Make Nigeria Global Leader in Industry

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, praised President Bola Tinubu's temporary suspension of raw shea export policy, foreseeing it as a catalyst for economic renewal and positioning Nigeria as a global leader in the shea industry. Speaking at the 20th Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Northern Zonal Accountants Conference in Minna, Idris highlighted the policy as a strategic move to unlock the full potential of the rural economy by promoting local processing of shea.

The aim is for Nigeria to account for 50% of the world's shea production and become a major global supplier. This initiative is expected to open up vast economic opportunities in the shea industry, particularly in Niger State, known as the epicenter of shea production.
