Vice President Urges South-east to Harness Mineral Wealth for Industrialization

Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized the importance of harnessing the mineral wealth in the South-east region to drive industrialization during the Vision 2050 South East Stakeholders Forum held in Enugu. He highlighted the Federal Government's commitment to aligning national policies and resources to support the region's vision for sustainable prosperity. Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State was commended for his efforts in restoring peace in the region, particularly in Amasiri, Oso Edda.

Governor Nwifuru emphasized the rich mineral deposits in Ebonyi State, including lead, zinc, limestone, salt, and granite, which can drive national development, especially in the South-east region. He expressed gratitude for the creation of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) and outlined plans to establish cement factories, leverage mineral resources for industrial processes, and promote local processing of minerals.
