Simeone Supports Lookman in Regaining Form at Atlético

Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone has publicly supported Ademola Lookman in his efforts to regain his best form following a challenging beginning to the 2026/2027 season. Lookman, a Nigeria international, has only scored once in nine appearances across all competitions, raising concerns about his performance levels.

He was substituted at half-time during Atlético’s recent 2-1 victory over Alavés. Simeone acknowledged that Lookman, who is 28 years old, has not yet reached the expected performance level but emphasized that dips in form are common among players.

He stated, “Every player goes through their own phases,” and highlighted Lookman's potential as a dribbler and goalscorer. Simeone encouraged Lookman to maintain confidence in his attacking skills, continue to take on defenders, and not be deterred by the risk of losing possession, reinforcing his belief in Lookman's capabilities.
