Lookman Responds to Simeone's Apology at Atletico Madrid

Ademola Lookman, a forward for Atletico Madrid, has publicly responded to manager Diego Simeone's apology regarding his deployment as a centre forward in the opening matches of the 2026/27 season against Malaga and Villarreal. This decision was made due to the absence of key players Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth.

Lookman did not score in those matches but made a significant impact upon returning to his preferred left-wing position, scoring in Atletico Madrid's 3-1 victory over Sevilla on August 29. After the match, Lookman emphasized his focus on sustaining the team's positive momentum and improving collectively.

He praised Simeone and the coaching staff, expressing eagerness to continue developing under their guidance. Lookman joined Atletico Madrid in January after a challenging first half of the 2025/26 season with Atalanta and has since become an integral part of the team's attack, contributing goals and assists as they aim for a title challenge this season.
