Kano Market Fire Destroys N5bn in Properties, 7 Missing

A significant fire incident occurred at a market in Kano, leading to the destruction of properties valued at N5 billion. Alhaji Junaid Zakari, the market's chairman, described the event as one of the worst tragedies in the market's history.

Four residential buildings and numerous small-scale businesses were razed, leaving hundreds of families in distress. Zakari reported that seven individuals were declared missing at the time of the report, and investigations are ongoing to determine their whereabouts and the cause of the fire.

He emphasized the urgent need for support to help affected traders rebuild their businesses. Governor Abba Yusuf visited the scene, demonstrating concern and solidarity with the victims.

Alhaji Isa Abubakar, a shop owner, lamented the loss of goods worth N200 million, while trader Musa Ibrahim reported losses amounting to N340 million. The community is in shock as they seek assistance to recover from this disaster.
