Anambra State to Refund Erroneous Salary Deductions

The Trade Union Congress (TUC) Chairman for Anambra State, Chri Ogbonna, announced that the state government will refund erroneous salary deductions made in February 2026 from civil servants who failed to report to work during a declared sit-at-home protest. The deductions were reported to be significant and did not align with normal procedures, causing disappointment among the workers.

Ogbonna assured that the state government, led by Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has promised to refund the affected workers.

The deductions were part of a pro-rata salary payment initiative aimed at addressing the impact of the sit-at-home protest. Workers reported receiving drastically reduced salaries, with some receiving as little as N3,500 from an expected N80,000.

The TUC has urged the state government to expedite the refund process, emphasizing the need for transparency and adherence to proper salary procedures.
