NASC Confirms Ibrahim Sidi as House Clerk in Nigeria

The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) confirmed the appointment of Ibrahim Sidi as the substantive Clerk of the House of Representatives on a Tuesday during the 31st Meeting of the 6th National Assembly Service Commission. Alongside Sidi, five other senior officials were also confirmed: Mrs.

Fortune Ihua-Maduenyi as Secretary, Protocol and Inter-Parliamentary Relations; Asien Fatima Nana as Secretary, Zonal Liaison Offices; Engr. Bashir Layya as Secretary, Estates and Works; Siyaka Abdulwahab Sadiq as Deputy Clerk (Legislative), House of Representatives; and Dauda Bulama Bukar as Deputy Clerk (Administration), House of Representatives.

The confirmations followed the successful completion of their acting appointments, which began on January 20, 2026. With this approval, Sidi officially assumes the role of Clerk, the highest-ranking administrative officer responsible for coordinating the legislative and administrative functions of the House of Representatives.

The NASC stated that these confirmations are expected to strengthen leadership and ensure continuity in the administration of the National Assembly.
