Six Oyo Reps Defect from PDP to APM Supporting Makinde

On Tuesday, six members of the Oyo State House of Representatives announced their defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied People's Movement (APM). The lawmakers, including Anthony Adebayo, Adedeji Olajid, Sundai Makanjuola, Oyedeji Oyeshina, Fola Oyekun, and Adekunle Adigun, expressed their loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde, who is a presidential candidate for the APM.

The announcement was made during a session presided over by Speaker Tajudeen Abba, who resumed plenary following the Sallah break. The lawmakers cited protracted internal crises and leadership tussles within the PDP as their reasons for seeking a political alternative in pursuit of the 2027 elections.

With this defection, the APM now comprises six out of the 14-member Oyo State caucus in the House of Representatives.
